The Swap
Some sticks, some trees, some boxes, some postcards and stamps, a map, and a bunch of kids. These were the ingredients for an event held in the Casa de Campo, Madrid, on 21 May 2023. The sticks, titled Colourful Lives, had previously been shown in an earlier exhibition, Measure: A Stone’s Throw, at the Sala José Saramago in the same city.

In return for taking part in this walk around the Casa de Campo and providing me with a stamped postcard at the end, the children were given ‘a colourful life’. They are now the guardians of an expressed hope.
